WHAT IS ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE

Alexander Technique is a simple and practical method to detect and change bad habitual patterns in both body and mind.                                                      
We all know stress as part of modern life. It causes interference with our health and that is reflected in our posture and behavior.              

Discovering the way we function brings awareness not only to habits in movement but also to habits in thinking and reacting that cause distress or pain and that block personal growth and development.                                          

AT helps to change the way we react to emotional problems and to change our perception of external circumstances through awareness. 
Although the effect of Alexander lessons can be therapeutic the technique is not a therapy but rather a psycho-physical re-education.

Traditionally people working in the field of theater and performance use the technique to prevent problems with voice, body or breathing, and to improve presentation and performance. Nowadays the technique is being practiced by people of all professions for a wide variety of stress- and burn-out related problems like back pain, neck and shoulder pain, RSI, headaches and high blood pressure. Aim of the technique is both prevention and healing.

AT improves our posture, poise, coordination and the use and functioning of ourselves and supports our general health, so that we can go through life easier and lighter, with more balance and peace.
