Gonnie Heggen studied Musicology at the University of Amsterdam and Choreography at the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam, a department of the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (AHK).

After that she finished her post-graduate studies at DasArts (School for Advanced Research in Theater and Dance Studies), department of AHK.

She trained to become a certified Alexander Technique teacher at ATCA, Alexander Technique Center Amsterdam, with Tessa Marwick and Paul Versteeg.
Gonnie is a member of the Dutch society of Alexander Teachers, NeVLAT.

After a long career in dance Gonnie Heggen is a staff teacher at the School for New Dance Development (AHK), the Choreography department, where she teaches dance, works as an artistic advisor, as a mentor and as an Alexander Technique teacher.

Next to this Gonnie has an Alexander Technique practice at home where she teaches private lessons.
